The Power of Gratitude
Feeling gratitude and giving thanks for all that you have can be a very powerful thing – it can change your entire perspective on life. Because when you’re grateful, it takes you to a higher plane of perception and awareness. When you’re focused on what you are grateful for, there’s no room for depressing thoughts. Gratitude allows you to be present in the moment. If you have yet to harness your power of gratitude, here are some reasons why you should start and how it can benefit you.
Lower Worry and Anxiety
Taking a few moments out of each day to sit and focus on all that you are thankful for floods your mind and body with feelings of abundance and joy. And as a result, it pushes out any of those stressful or worrisome thoughts you may have had swarming about initially. By focusing on all that you do have, it can calm your mind and prevent you from focusing on what you don’t have.
Improve Self-Confidence
Confidence is something that many of us struggle with, no matter how hard we try to overcome those doubtful thoughts. In being grateful for what you have, what you have earned, and what you are capable of, it dispels those self-defeating thoughts that can bring you down and cause you to begin doubting your own abilities. Being thankful means accepting yourself instead of judging yourself.
Live in the Moment
When you’re grateful about all that you have, here and now, it brings your mind and being into consciously living in the present moment. When we don’t connect to our present, life can slip on by without us really ever paying much attention. Before you know it, years have past and not much has changed or grown. Living in gratitude means living life here and now and appreciating it.
Improve Sleep
Anxiety is an attribute of our modern society that has become far too common. It can follow us everywhere and stir up worry in an instant. As a result, our body and mind can suffer, including our ability to get a restful night’s sleep. Without sleep, you can enter into this vicious cycle that just doesn’t seem to end. But you can easily alter that pattern and cycle by introducing gratitude into your routine. When you’re grateful for what you have, you can drown out that anxiety and avoid those nights of tossing and turning.
If you’re struggling to connect to living in the present, or feel weighed down and stressed out, maybe it’s time to introduce gratitude into your life. Take a few minutes every morning to sit and focus on things that you feel thankful for. By doing this, you allow your body and mind a reprieve from your worries, and can lighten your entire self to feel happier and at peace.
